The Garden 73: 543 (Nov 6, 1909) HYBRID TEA ROSE CLAUDIUS. This is a hybrid of much beauty, and one of its good qualities is fragrance, which is the more welcome when so many sorts are without it. Claudius is a hybrid that should be a Rose for the summer and autumn, as the award of merit of the Royal Horticultural Society was given to it on October 12 last, when the flowers were fresh and the rose colour undimmed. We saw it also earlier in the year. As will be seen by the illustration on page 542, the blooms are full and the petals rather broad. It was shown by Messrs. B. R. Cant and Sons of Colchester.
