Introduced by Unknown (Australia) in 1966 as 'Red Devil'.
Introduced in France by NIRP International in 1967 as 'Coeur d'Amour'.
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1970 as 'Red Devil'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Scarlet, lighter reverse.  Strong fragrance.  72 to 75 petals.  Large, very full (41+ petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  

Glossy, dark green foliage.  

Height: 3' to 6'7" (90 to 200cm).  Width: 2' to 4' (60 to 120cm).

USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Arena Rose Co.'s Catalog 2000 says Coeur d'Amour has large, heavily petalled blooms of scarlet-crimson with a lighter reverse... It is more widely known as 'Red Devil'...
