Origin:
Bred by Philippe-Victor Verdier (France, before 1861).
Introduced in France by Charles-Félix Verdier in 1862 as 'Madame William Paul'.
Introduced in Australia by J. Graham & Co. in 1874 as 'Mrs. William Paul'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Violet - purple, crimson edges.  Medium to large, double (17-25 petals), cluster-flowered, high-centered to cupped bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.
