I'm wondering if this one is ever going to be introduced. Looks very pretty and I'd happily add it to my growing gallica collection. So far, Pauls old rose introductions have performed to perfection in my organic garden. I'm not sure, but by how they perform, I would have to guess that he truly does not spray them during their trial period, because when they are listed as disease resistant, they really tend to be disease resistant. Other hybridizers really should fess up and say theirs are disease resistant with a diligent spraying program in place and not when grown organically. My favorites of Paul Barden so far, Gallicandy, Crested Damask, and Marianne. Umbra is new and though it is December 16 here and we've had it dip to 22 degrees F on two seperate occasions, the leaves on Umbra are still pristine and show no disease or even signs of their age.

Hello Bob,
Yes, this variety will eventually be released into commerce. It was in fact slated for 2009 but we failed to propagate sufficient numbers to be ready for that. Perhaps next year. Thanks for your interest in my work, I'm glad these roses perform well for you.

Well, when it comes out, I'll order it. It's beautiful.

Sadly, no nursery is interested in releasing new varieties of this class, so its unlikely this will ever be seen outside my own garden.
