'Souvenir de Madame Auguste Charles' rose Reviews & Comments

Souvenir de Mme Aiguste Charles is one of my favorites. She is doing extremely well and blooming for a very long period in partial shade. I was very positively surprised by this Rose. About her parentage: Francois Joyaux writes that Souvenir de Madame Auguste Charles is a Seedling of Sir Joseph Paxton (Laffay 1852).

Does Joyaux indicate the origin of his information that 'Souvenir de Mme. Auguste Charles' is a seedling of 'Sir Joseph Paxton'? I haven't found that data in any original source.

We added the original text in French, but there is no hint where the info about parentage is from. Wesselhöft names this rose as 'Souvenir de Mme Charlet' or 'Souvenir de Mme Auguste Charlet'. An Auguste Charlet existed around that period, but Auguste Charles?

Amongst all my old Madames, Vicomtesses, Duchesses and mere wives (about 80 different ones) Souvenir de Mme Auguste Charles is one of my favourites. She blooms wonderfdully, over a comparatively long period and seems to have no faults exceept an occassional black spot. I often wonder who she was, and I'm sure deserve dthis beautiful souvenir.
