The 1845 reference states that 'Souvenir d'un Ami' was bred by a friend of Bélot-Défougère and passed over to the latter - the name of the rose recalling this exchange.
The 1902 catalogue of l'Haÿ lists 'Madame Tixier' and 'Souvenir d'un Ami' separately, so they may be two distinct roses.
Vintage Gardens believes "McClinton Tea" might be the true 'Souvenir d'un Ami'.
Pierre Guillot states that 'Souvenir d'un Ami' is a descendant of 'Adam'.- see References.
