Summer Sunshine Large-flowered hybrid tea. Parentage: 'Buccaneer' x 'Lemon Chiffon'. (aka 'Soleil d'Eté') USA 1962. Description and cultivation... The intensely yellow flower is very attractive and has a good scent... Good for cutting and for glasshouse cultivation, it is not so useful in the garden due to the nature of the plant...

Roy Rumsey.  The Best Roses of the Last Five Years.
Summer Sunshine ('Buccaneer' x 'Lemon Chiffon') A clear rich yellow with twenty-five fairly broad petals and a pointed centre. It is free-flowering and the strong bush of medium height has attractive soft-looking foliage. Probably this cultivar is our best bright yellow to date.

New Roses. Summer Sunshine HT. (Swim) About the deepest yellow we have seen in the bud form. Very free flowering and a very good grower. We were a little disappointed to find that at no time in the year did this rose have more than 20 petals. Overseas reports state 25-30, so it may do better when it settles down a mature plant. The colour did fade rather more than can be excused, but nevertheless we still rate it a very satisfactory variety. ('Buccaneer' x 'Lemon Chiffon').
