botarose says: "Rosa guli reschti Persoon; collecté par Haussknecht en Perse en 1863; herbier Crépin.". That can't be correct: 1. Dr. Carl Haussknecht travelled from 1864 to 1869 from Weimar via Anatolia, Kurdistan and Luristan through Persia. 2. The plants he collected are in the "Herbarium Haussknecht" in Weimar, today in Jena, not in the herbar Crépin.
Rosa guli reschti Persoon; as shown in the herbar Crépin is not Gul e Reschti (Rose de Rescht), thats evident. But what Hausknecht brought back to Weimar and what is still growing since more than 100 years in different gardens in that area is todays 'Rose de Resht'. If the residents at Bebahan in southern Persia, in a distance of more than 1.000 km, call it Gul e Reschti, does'nt mean anything. Rose de Resht is for me not a Portland, but an Automn Damasc with probably some chinese influence that came very early to Persia via the Silk Route. Probably Rose de Resht at Rescht existed already in the Middle Ages together with otther garden roses in Persia not known at that time in Europe.
