In the Netherlands where this rose was bred someone ought to write this rosename as "Evert van Dijk"! Only the people that lived in the USA or Canada with that name would come back to the Netherlands as van Dyk or van Dyke!
As you can see, HMF has pages of references using the anglicized spelling. I'd be delighted to add this spelling of the name if you can point me to a book or magazine reference that uses this spelling for the rose.
Cass, I have a hunch that this Evert van Dijk was the first Dutch pilot that flew to Indonesia in 1929, and the first that flew to America! But I'm working on that. (see: http://www.inghist.nl/Onderzoek/Projecten/BWN/lemmata/bwn4/dijkev) There is no place in the Netherlands called Nasarden ( metioned at the page of the breeder), but there is a place called Naarden. And there is definitely no such place as Greater London!
Thank You Jedmar, that source I don't have; In The Netherlands this rose seems to be forgotten and Gerald Adriaan van Rossem (almost) too, that's a pity! I'll ask the Dutch Rosesociety (Els de Krijger) about the two of them.

The problem with including website addresses here is that on occasion people use them to promote their non-gardening websites/products and sometimes even pornography websites.
As You can see in the references for this rose, also referred to as Evert van Dijk in: Hawter Nurseries, Catalog (1936) Page 44. And Collins Guide to Roses (3rd ed. 1959) Book (1959) Page 81. Maybe already this week I'll get in contact with the family van Rossem.
