Includes photo(s). ‘Belle Poitevine’: Arbuste… longs boutons pointus… grandes fleurs semi-doubles aux pétales fripés, presque plates, d’un ton frais de magenta clair réchauffé du jaune paille des étamines… parfumées… se succèdent sur une longue période, de juin en automne, parfois suivies de gros fruits rouge foncé. Le rosier forme un grand buisson plus anguleux que les rosiers rugueux sauvages, et son feuillage est plus rude. Son obtenteur Bruant avait sa pépinière en Poitou, France, 1894. Rex Thomson: The dry hot summer in Dunedin has reulted in a vintage display from Belle Poitevine, and although this Rugosa does not always set hips, it has excelled itself this year. At the present time, this beauty has a few final magenta pink flowers, plenty of large dark red fruit, and the foliage is beginning to turn to that wonderful autumn toning - what more could one ask for from a rose?
