What of those that only just failed to make my best dozen? For general garden display, I think the hybrid tea, 'Typhoon', from Kordes of Germany, is likely to be value for money. The colouring is variable, from coppery-orange-salmon to orange-flame at different times, the globular flowers being carried on sturdy plants of excellent habit.

Typhoon, HT. (Kordes, 1973). ('Koningin der Rosen' x 'Dr. A. J. Verhage'). Beautiful blooms of 35 petals borne singly on erect stems. The colour is mostly deep salmon pink but it is shaded with a lot of orange and yellow. Not up to specimen bloom standard but very decorative.

Taifun HT. (Kordes). We note the spelling change to 'Typhoon' in the rose trials at Bone Hill. Deep apricot blooms with a yellow base to the petals. About 20-25 petals, and lightly fragrant. Growth is very good, and the foliage is a mid-green and slightly glossy.
