Kaitala: Has been slow to establish. Northland: Top decorative bloom for showing, grows tall and large, quite healthy. Waikato: Tall growing, beautiful decorative blooms in spring, one bloom per stem, lovely colour, repeats well, can be prone to disease, can get rust. Matamata: Beautiful decorative blooms, lots of flowers, grows tall. Te Awamutu: Lovely decorative blooms but few flowers. Bay of Plenty: Has several flushes of flowers over season, good in a vase. Manawatu: Tall, lovely soft to medium pink slender shaped blooms, prone to black spot and rust, best in spring and autumn, goes off in the heat, good for picking, repeat flowering is good too. Hutt Valley: Tends to get black spot, colour is dirty pink rather than clear pink, excellent decorative bloom. Marlborough: Good decorative form to the bloom. South Canterbury: Get a good flower and you'll win any rose show.

Plants: 131.  Parentage: Virgo seedling x Gold Medal. Reports: 60. Height: Medium to Tall. Garden: 7.1. Exhibition: 8.3. Health: 6.8 (good). Fragrance: 3.4 (some).  A "must have" exhibitor's type rose that gives blooms of the perfect decorative form. Plants are tall and vigorous but the variety does not perform well in wet climates. It can be prone to the diseases, black spot, rust and powdery mildew.

p33. Peter Elliott. It's All In The Packing !! I remember when dear "Attie" from Cambridge, known to almost everyone, arrived at Palmerston North for the 75th National Rose Show a few years ago. He was clutching a big old brown suitcase. When he unloaded it he had packed about 50 beautiful long stemmed examples of his lovely rose 'Joan Monica' and proceeded to do a stunning display vase of it.

Northland: Healthy bush that grows very large and produces masses of blooms, good picking rose. Waikato: An exhibitor's rose, colour is pale and blooms blow quickly. Matamata: Excellent rose for the garden and exhibiting, plenty of blooms. Bay of Plenty: Never without flowers and very quick to repeat. Manawatu: Wonderful decorative show rose, lovely poise and balance, glossy foliage, good health. South Canterbury: An exhibitors treasure, repeats well, very pleasing.
