'Marqués de Narros' rose Reviews & Comments

Guys, Your comment reads "The Marquis of Narros were Bask nobles from Zarauz (Guipúzcoa) back to 1685, Spanish grandies since 1866." I think in English that should read "The Marquises of Narros were Basque nobles from Zarauz (Guipúzcoa) back to 1685, Spanish grandees from 1866."

Friera's Rosas de España 1957 is the authority on Spanish roses of this period. On page 111 he says this rose was bred by Eugenio Fojo [not La Florida] but gives no date. The name is clearly given as 'Marchesa de Narros' not 'Marques de Narros.' "Marques" means marquis in Spanish, "Marquesa" means marchioness or, in French, marquise.
