I think people really understate the amount of lavender this rose can show, especially at the edge of the flower. It turns a very nice shade of gray violet in the sun, and it has a nice fresh rose scent to it. A good, sweet bourbon rose smell.

So sorry I can't post a full-length photo of this wonderful shrub. In its second year in the garden it is over 5 feet tall, maybe 3-1/2 wide and simply covered with bloom-- in its SECOND flush. Our five plants are in a tough corner spot with morning shade and intense tree root competition. Orchid Romance is everything a shrub rose should be, I feel like sending Mr. Radler a fan letter!

How long does the bloom last on the bush, and in the vase? Will this fry in hot-sun? Thank you for any info.

The individual blooms probably don't last long but there are so many of them it doesn't matter. Never thought to try it in a vase; stems tend to be short. The virtue of Orchid Romance is the great show she provides right thru the heat of summer; temps here hit the 90's in May and continue right on thru September (8a coastal Virginia, near NC line). Even more unusual for a workhorse shrub, the blooms are beautiful up close and fragrant!

Thank you !! The color looks nice, it's hard to find a deep pink that doesn't fade.
