'Jamie' rose Reviews & Comments

I have grown this rose since 2013. The oldest was followed by another two being planted in 2015. The two later plantings from Robin's nursery were planted because of the excellent performance of the first. The plants are in full sun, in a south facing garden and located at the front of a main border. It has proved to be completely hardy in a zone 3a/4a Canadian prairie climate zone.
It has a compact, tidy habit and form, and produces well shaped buds, and fully double blooms of lilac pink (purple-mauve tinge) in color. It is the bloom color, and interesting and pleasing bloom form during development that give this rose garden value. It has not shown susceptibility to disease in my garden - however there seems to be low pressure in my garden location - province home of original Therese Bugnet.
Though have not examined in detail the plant characteristics, the apice of Jamie’s leaves are more obtuse than the acute character version of Therese Bugnet. Leaves definitely are smaller but look rugosa like. Reddish brown colouring of stems, canes etc strong as in Therese.
In my experience, a noteworthy characteristic is the plants stay between 1' to 2' in height and ~1' in width in my garden. This differs from the breeder's description of ~4' on Vancouver Island. As a comparison, Therese Bugnet grows to between 5 to 8 feet+ in the garden. Because the bushes are planted at the bed front, this patio rose height has been fortuitous for the esthetics in my garden . Also a strong plus is the availability of a hardy short rose, that has a pleasing and interesting bloom form and color, these types are very limited for zone 3 - tend to only be partially hardy.
Caution though, ymmv for height for your location and climate.
I would recommend Jamie for the praire garden. In my opinion its proven to be an excellent completely hardy, short stature, no issues rose for the prairies (Alberta) - needs to be dispersed more widely.
