'Magic Moments' rose References
Book  (1988)  Page(s) 111.

Don Sheppard. Final Analysis 1987-88. ‘Magic Moments’. Martin NZ, 1983. pale pink; 34 reports; 52 bushes; 5 years; 1.6m; 7.3 rating. A fine weather exhibitors’ rose. some reporters find it a good grower, but most say it grows well and is healthy. The big classic blooms come one per stem. Poverty Bay reports that it is not worth growing there as the blooms and foliage are gross, growth is poor and it fades quickly. However, exhibitors will forgive and live in hope of fine weather to produce the perfect bloom on the right day.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1986-87 Season. Hybrid Tea ‘Magic Moments’. Martin 1983. pale pink; 9 reports; 15 bushes; 1-4 years, 1.7m; 7.0 rating. As mentioned in last year’s reports, too much sun or rain ruin this superlative exhibition bloom. However, Gisborne finds the blooms gross and the colour fades fast. Southland reports a shy bloomer, but a healthy, vigorous bush and Bay of Plenty says the blooms blow far too quickly. It grows very well on the West Coast giving big blooms and good repeat.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1985-86 Season. Hybrid Tea. ‘Magic Moments’. Martin, 1983. Pale salmon-pink; 9 reports; 2 years; 1.7m; 7.5 rating. Two reporters pull this rose’s rating down from about 8.0. In Gisborne it is disappointing, “Huge blooms blow too fast”, and in Christchurch “Rain or heat ruin the blooms.” Another Christchurch grower, also Napier, Westland, Rotorua, West Otago and Central Taranaki say that the lovely, exhibition type blooms, on long straight stems, stand the weather well. Repeat is a little slow; there is a fragrance and the bush grows well.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1984-85 Season.
'Magic Moments' Martin 1983 Salmon orange to pink. 7 reports, 8 bushes, 1-2 years, 1.4 metres, 7.2 rating. West Coast find the blooms are poor, balling in the rain, burning under the sun, the colour is dull, unexciting. Gisborne finds the blooms to be non-descript when ageing; the whole being very unexciting. However Southern Hawkes Bay, Rotorua and Christchurch are impressed as is Lower Hutt, who describe the blooms as being similar to 'Dreamtime' and 'Worthwhile'. These folk find the bloom to have excellent form, show bench potential in fact, good perfume, no disbudding required, good repeat, all this on a healthy vigorous bush! Worth a try we think, but only in certain areas obviously, not too hot - or too wet.
