Sue Pacey of D & S Roses advises that 'My Old Friend' is a sport of 'Faithful Companion' (Geacutty).

I don't know why I chose that name, Patricia - just a silly play on words really. Given their different pronunciation of 'tomato', I sometimes wonder if our American friends catch on (that's if they even care!). If I was starting over, I probably wouldn't even use a nom-de-plume.
