This will get crossed with Autumn Damask and Blue HPs, blue HTs, blue Mosses, etc, to really bring out the best. I can't wait to make this rose into something very special.
As a long forstalled update, all cuttings of this would callus, but then rot. :( In the future, I would use damp sand to root rather than the standard potting soil.
Thanks, Jakub. I've also changed my rooting medium now that I am in a wetter climate. We'll see how the change works. I mixed my moisture control soil with perlite and coarse sand so it's more like a cactus mix.
You might try to add vermiculite and tiny bit of lava-meal too to Your mixture, Kim. PS: Is coarse sand the sort that is used for masonry-work? with no clay elements init and a bit grained like groats/semolina?
Thanks, Jakub, but vermiculite breaks down into clay, which we have an over abundance of here. Yes, the sand is the washed sand available at building supply stores, suitable for horticulture and concrete work. It seems to be doing the job as it remains damp but water runs through it fairly quickly.
