Do we know anything about this breeder, such as where he worked?

Nothing. I'm wondering if having the breeder as "Abraham" is just a supposition drawn from the name of the rose. There was a Hippolyte Abraham who was a Député 1832-1848; and an Hippolyte-Abraham, "called Abraham Dubois," who was a "magistrat et homme politique" born at Avranches 3/11/1794, died 10/3/1863--same as the Député? But they seem too far back in time for this HT.

Jäger has a few mistakes, but he must have also found the date of 1903 somewhere. It is not from the 1911 Chédane & Pajotin catalogue. According to Journal des Roses, May 1907, p. 80: M. J.-L. Abraham, arboriculteur in Clamart (Seine) was awarded the title of Chevalier de Mérite Agricole. This would probably be Jean-Louis Abraham (April 18, 1860 Clamart - June 24, 1918 Clamart). A Denis Louis Abraham (February 6, 1818 Clamart - April 21, 1870 Clamart) was Municipal Councillor in Clamart (street named after him). His son was Denis Louis Abraham (December 12, 1852 Clamart - March 30, 1931 Clamart). The father of councillor Denis Louis was Jean Benoit Abraham, who was the great-uncle of Jean Louis. All are mentioned as Vigneron and later as Cultivateur.
