Is this rose the same as Show Your Stripes? WEKnewibysbip : Fizzy Lady JACnewibysbip : Show Your Stripes
Both have a breeding year of before 2019. Is this another case of a rose being relabeled for sale in Europe by Weeks?

The varietal codes are too similar for it to be a coincidence. Umless these are siblings, they are probably the same rose. But why would Weeks change JAC for WEK? Licence fees? The breeder of one is probably incorrect (Carruth vs. Bedard).

Looking at those codes I suspect the 'wiby' refers to 'Wild Blue Yonder' and the 'sbip' to 'Stephen's Big Purple'.. can't figure out what the 'ne' is for though... 'Neptune'? or 'Neon Cowboy'?...

Hi Marlorena, yes it's Neptune! The parentage should be the same as the one listed on HMF for Show Your Stripes:
seed: Neptune ™ (hybrid tea, Carruth, 2003) pollen: Wild Blue Yonder ™ × {[ Purple Heart ™ (floribunda, Carruth, 1999) × Unknown] × Big Purple}

Thank you ! I like the breeding but not the blooms so much. I'll stick with Wild Blue Yonder which I've just re-introduced into my garden..

I have no idea why they changed the name, but it would appear from the (few) pics available online that these could be the same. The main difference I see is in the fragrance, with Fizzy Lady said to have a spice fragrance and Show Your Stripes a citrusy one. If they were siblings wouldn't it be unusual to give them exactly the same code? I would bet you're right that the change in could be for some commercial/contractual reason.
