In the mid-1990’s, while working on an experiment on rose germination he used the ‘Angel Wings’ seeds in the experiment and by spring planted out more than 80 plants. About five plants survived multiple years of extreme Wisconsin winters without protection and these five polyantha roses became the foundation of his future work with polyantha roses. The three new introductions area: • Pretty Polly™ Lavender (’ZLEpolthree’) a near-thornless rose with very soft lavender-pink blooms on full compact plants. Of the three new roses, this one is smaller in mature height and width.
