Origin:
Bred by Kim L. Rupert (United States, 2014).
Class:
Shrub.  
Bloom:
Russet and orange, dark brown shading.  Mild fragrance.  10 to 15 petals.  Average diameter 9".  Medium to large, semi-double (9-16 petals), in small clusters, expanded , flat, open bloom form.  Prolific, spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  Medium, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Tall, arching, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large, glossy, dark green, holly-like foliage.  5 leaflets.  

Height: up to 7' (up to 215cm).  
Growing:
Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  
Breeder's notes:
The plant is completely prickle-free. The buds are nearly black when the sepals first open and the heavily velveted petals also appear black as they begin to unfurl. As the pigments mature, they develop into a deep, dark chocolate, illuminated with a brilliant orange under tone. Opened indoors, they remain virtually black velvet.
