It is named after a small village in Co Mayo, that is famous for it's abbey and translates as "plains of yew".

The name of the rose is "Maigh Eo" and not "Maigh Eno".

According to the information provided to me by it's breeder, Colin Dickson, it was bred by crossing Dawn Cargill with a Rotilia Seedling.
