Book (1952) Page(s) 135. Joy V. Guinan, Wellington Rose Society, N.Z. D.35 (H. Pol.), whose seed parent is Hythe Cluster and pollen parent Holstein, has not yet been on trial long enough for test. Borne in clusters, on a long, rather thorny strong stem, a very free flowering beautiful scarlet-red 6-7 petaled bloom opens two and a half to three inches. The inside velvety petals are a blood red-crimson shade which is accentuated by the vivid yellow stamens. The bloom, which lasts well, retains its colour; neither blues nor fades. The bushy tree is very, very vigorous, and has tough dark green foliage similar to that of Frensham. The heavily serrated leaves are often three inches in length and, to date, are resistant to disease. This rose surely will "go places" in its section when placed on the market.
