Damask roses .... 'Dalstorp' ...Description ....According to Pom's DNA study 'Dalstorp' is a complex hybrid. The nearest variety in the study is 'Järnvägeren' with a similarity index of 68,0%. The method used shows the next closest relative to be 'Agatha' in the Francofurtana group with a similarity index of 60,0%. The following next closest roses with the highest similarity indices with 'Dalstorp' are four Gallica roses ('Surpasse Tout', 'Officinalis', 'Rosa Mundi' and 'Sundby', with similarity indices between 58,3 and 56,0%, compared to 'Erik' in the Damask group with a similarity index of 55,6%.
Pom's dendogram and Splits Tree shows a clearer relation of 'Dalstorp' with varieties in the Damask group than the similarity index. ....
A name previously used in commerce was 'Aurora'. Cedergren & Co in Råå and Hallandsåsens plant shop in Laholm sold this rose under that name. During in-depth studies on the name 'Aurora', it turned out that the name 'Aurora'/'Aurore' was used for at least ten different sorts in rose literature and in Swedish price lists. Due to the scant published information on the Aurora, none of them could be assigned to the rose found during the inventory.
