Where did you get your plant from, Margaret? I have a cutting grown plant that is still small (waiting to be released into the ground over winter if I can find a spot) that was obtained from the plant shown growing at the Victoria State Rose Garden a few years back. I had budwood sent to Bruce at the same time and I think he has had a few take. Mine also looks quite Chinaish in the leaf and has a smallish flower that reminds me of 'Slater's Crimson China' though I always thought it was due to be unhappy in a pot instead of in the ground.

From the same source as yours. Wal thinks it may have come from LN originally, but said he'd check the records. He says it's very unhealthy in the Vic State Rose Garden, but it may do better in Renmark's climate. We're happy to have it whatever it is, as true climbing Chinas are uncommon, although I've seen some bush ones scrambling up through other plants to reach the light.
