The picture and description are very valuable. It seems certain that what we have as 'Triomphe du Luxembourg' today is not the original (possibly Regulus).

I'll ask Patricia to open a file for "William James Wright", one of the Rookwood found Teas. Its growth is similar to "Rose sold as Triomphe du Luxembourg", and it would be interesting to compare it with Regulus. I don't have much on it yet but we'll add more photos in November.

I've done so, but under protest. So far, nobody has shared any botanical details to add on "William James Wright" so all we have for the file is Pink Tea. If the Sydney Heritage Roses group has any details on this rose, it would be most welcome. Pink tea tells us nothing.
Isn't the "Rose sold as Triomphe du Luxembourg" in Australia, 'Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux'?

Patricia, in reply to your question, "Isn't the "Rose sold as Triomphe du Luxembourg" in Australia, 'Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux'?", two plants of the same rose have been noted and photographed at the Europa Rosarium, Sangerhausen, one labelled 'Triomphe du Luxembourg', the other labelled 'Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux'. The rose in question does not match detailed descriptions of the original 'Triomphe du Luxembourg' and that has to be eliminated as the correct identity. The dearth of information and detailed description of 'Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux' makes it difficult to be confident that the second label is the correct identity, but it certainly seems a closer match. "The rose in commerce as Triomphe du Luxembourg" was originally sourced from Sangerhausen and can be seen in public and private gardens all over the world.

Thank you Billy. That is clear. I have it in my garden records as "?Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux? - came as 'Triomphe du Luxembourg'

Jedmar - do you know why 'Regulus' has been suggested as a possible identity for "The rose in commerce as Triomphe du Luxembourg"?

let me reply instead of jedmar - 'regulus' at sangerhausen is very close to what we know as 'wrong triomphe du luxembourg'. i shot some pics of it in 2008 - similarity of prickles and leaves is surprising.
