This is growing in my garden at a 120 year old house in rural NE Pennsylvania. It was here when I moved in 11 years ago.

Rev. Douglas Seidel told me that he and Leonie Bell used to find this in other areas of Pennsylvania and had tentatively identified it as Athalin.

Are you familiar with Athalin and/or the rose in my picture?

No I'm not familiar with Athalin. I found the rose very often mentioned in old rose literature but couldn't find it in any nursery or rose garden. I thought that 'Athalin' is extinct. Is the rose in your garden reblooming ? Every ancient author is listing it as a once blooming rose.

Hi Belmont,

is it possible to get cuttings from your rose ?

Yes, I would be happy to share cuttings or a runner. I have never mailed cuttings before and never to overseas. I would need advice on how to do it. Is this time of year OK for cuttings?

Marita needs to enquire about quarantine regulations for plant material coming into her country. Eg is it illegal , do cuttings need fumigation or other treatment, would it be better for a nursery near you to send budwood to a nursery near Marita.

Thanks, Margaret. I knew there would be restrictions. I never thought of using 2 nurseries as middlemen, though.

Sending rose cuttings or roses into the European Union is not illegal. However, a phytosanitary certificate is necessary, which usually ınvolvews a nursery.
