(Description and culture) USDA Zones 5 to 7. Fragrant, medium pink... makes an excellent short climber or pillar rose. The large, cupped, very full blooms give an old-fashioned appearance that looks lovely in mixed borders with antique and modern roses and perennials. It can be pegged as a groundcover, and it looks especially striking spilling over a wall, where its beautiful, fragrant flowers can be shown to advantage.

'Bonica' represents an important breakthrough in breeding for disease resistance... 'Bonica' is resistant to black spo, mildew, and rust. This means that it will maintain about half of its foliage even without fungicide treatments. The Conard-Pyle Company, US producer of the rose, recommends three preventive spray treatments if you want plants to keep their foliage through the season; apply fungicidal soap or garden sulfur combined with an anti-transpirant as soon as leaves emerge in spring and twice thereafter.
