JACQUES CARTIER . Portland . ( 1868 ) 3-4 feet . Clear pink , three - inch flowers with an intense fragrance . They make me think of fluffy powder puffs . One of my favorite roses in the garden and for bouquet ....

Gallica [Stemler doesn't know when it was introduced]... Bright magenta in the center, with pale lilac ones surrounding them -- a sharply defined two-toned effect. It blooms for a longer time than most of the Gallicas.
