We have two Americas (both grafted, purchased from Lowes), one in more shade than the other separated by a climbing Iceberg in the middle. Our mildew season starts when our foggy weather appears (mostly in June) and disappears when the weather clears. We do not spray. The one in MORE sun mildews more and the flower color fades within 2 days of opening while the one in more shade is almost mildew free and the flowers hold their color until the petals drop. The one in less sun flowers more too, go figure! The flowers last a week in a vase and do not brown but hold their color until the petals drop. The fragrance can be strong or medium depending on the weather. The major drawback of this rose is its sparse foliage which would look bad (spindly, bare canes) if they were not paired with the Iceberg climber. The color is awesome and it is one of our best roses for the vase.

Very helpful, I am going to plant next to Jude the Obscure, I think they will "marry" well.
