Bloom:
Red or vermilion, white center, yellow stamens, white-ish reverse. Mild fragrance. 5 to 7 petals. Average diameter 2.5". Small to medium, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered, in large clusters bloom form. Prolific, blooms in flushes throughout the season. Ovoid buds.
Habit:
Tall, armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, spreading. Small, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.
Height: 3' to 6' (90 to 185cm). Width: 30" to 3' (75 to 90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer. Can be used for container rose, cut flower, garden, ground cover or hedge. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

According to the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights (PVR) web page, application for a PVR Grant for this rose was made April 5, 1976 and granted March 14, 1977 (PVR Grant No. 5). The breeder's Reference for this rose is Maceye. The New Zealand Trade Name is 'Eyepaint'. This PVR Grant was surrendered on March 14, 1983.
