What is the mature size (height and width) of this shrub? Also, does it perform better (e.g. colours don’t fade) if planted in part shade like R. Glauca? Thanks!

From the book Right Rose, Right Place by Peter Schneider.

"The most interesting hybrid I have grown is the Canadian 'Louis Riel' (Zubrowski, 1996), which carries R. glauca's distinctive gray foliage into a more upright plant with single-petaled white blooms that recur throughout the summer."

In fact, the shrub is less upright (and more prickly) than Rosa glauca and it only flowers once.

'Louis Riel' has 1 1/4 inch diameter flowers that are very light pink that fade quickly to white. The shrub is much more thornier than Rosa glauca. Foliage is similar in appearance to Rosa glauca and the contrast of its purple-red color and white flowers is very attractive. Hips are rarely produced. When the flowers are finished blooming, the shrub is valuable (especially in very cold climates) for providing a contrasting purple color to shrubs having green foliage that are grown in the landscape.
