Dr. A. G. Campbell. Growing Roses in Containers. Sir William Butlin. Does not really like growing in a container. Developed chlorosis very easily and also marginal necrosis of the leaves probably from a potash deficiency. It had thin petals which opened rather quickly and was unsuitable for the Adelaide climate.
Book  (1970)  Page(s) 103.

This year (1969-70) Gandy's (Roses) Ltd. are introducing two roses of their own raising. 'Sir William Butlin', a hybrid tea, is a plant of medium height from the seed parent 'Bettina' and has rich red orange petals with an orange-yellow reverse.
