Medium red Hybrid Rugosa.
Registration name: Hansa (Rugosa, Schaum & Van Tol, 1905)

Bred by Schaum & Van Tol (Netherlands, 1905).

Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub.  

Purple.  Strong, clove fragrance.  up to 25 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  

Armed with thorns / prickles.  

Height: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm).  Width: 4' to 7' (120 to 215cm).

USDA zone 3b and warmer.  Hardy.  drought resistant.  produces decorative hips.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, very blackspot resistant..  Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood..

Sets a heavy crop of large scarlet hips.
Named after "The Hansa Nursery" of Schaum and Van Tol in Boskoop, Netherlands.
The Swedish Rose Society recommends Hansa for northern Sweden.
