So many rose rustlers in California have collected cuttings from the plant of this rose in the Placerville Cemetery over the years that it has gathered to itself a number of mystery names, including "Zeiss White" and "Jacob Zeiss," in honor of the gravesite on which it grows. A personal favorite, it has pure-white flowers, quite small and double, packed tightly into very large clusters. The inch-wide blooms are held close into a dense shrub that grows slowly over time to 5 feet tall and nearly 5 feet wide. At first glimpse it seems to have been clipped over like a ball of boxwood, and that is the beauty of this unforgettable rose.

"Placerville White Noisette". Bud blush, some apricot. Petals blush with apricot fading white, yellow base. 41 petals, plus 18 petaloids. Leaves smaller. Prickles 1-2, some hooked. Habit compact.
