USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Very hardy.

Notes:
Exact parentage is unknown, but was always described with the other early Hybrid Multifloras that were derived from Rosa x multiflora 'Carnea.'
The color can edge into the lavender range. This rose tolerates alkaline conditions better than many of the Multiflora descendants. We find it often in California, as it was used as rootstock. Lucky us! If it were remontant, it'd be a "million-seller." J. Jennings
Château de la Grifferaie is in the village of Echemiré in the commune of Baugé-en Anjou, Maine-et-Loire. See 1845 reference for attribution of this rose to L. Legris, who was the proprietor of the Château and a rose lover. Earliest mention of a "De Grille" as breeder is in 1886. This is possibly an error of transcription, as there is a Rue de la Grille in Baugé.
