Founded in 1993 as a non-profit, educational organization, the
Tinseltown Rose Society promotes interest in all aspects of rose horticulture throught various educational meetings, lectures, programs, shows, and rose-related community projects. A major, amateur event is the annual MOTHER'S DAY ROSE SHOW at Rose Hills, 3888 S. Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA. May 11 & 12, 2002. Hours: SAT., MAY 11: Entries 6-9:30 a.m.; Judging: 9:45 a.m.-noon; Show: 12:30 p.m.- 5 p.m.; SUN., MAY 12: Show 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Rose Care Seminar: 2-3 p.m.
Meetings are held each month except May, July & August at 3 p.m. sharp on the second Sun. of the month, usually at 8400 Gregory Way, Beverly Hills. (S.E. corner of LaCienega & Gregory Way.)
April 14, 2002, meeting is "CATCHING ROSE EXHIBITION FEVER: 'HOW TO' ESSENTIALS FOR THE NOVICE & EXHIBITOR." A free seminar, demonstration, and practice. Refreshments served after seminar. Practice rose show & judging starts at 2:30 p.m. (Bring clear glass bud vases for your entries.)
