(Bloom/Image taken June 2022) Update: Cane hardiness here in South/Central Michigan Z5b is borderline. (I reject the change of being raised half a zone to 6a based on actual observed temperatures over winter in the last ten to fifteen years, and the performances of roses in the last five as well.) Winter 2023-2024 killed nearly all cane to a couple-three feet. Very few blooms. 2024-2025 was friendlier; had blooms up through the dead plum tree again like in 2022. Z5b is probably the coldest 'Albertine' can withstand, and even that is pushing it. Drier, Western Z5's may have better cane retention.

19 April 2019. Livermore, CA. Though it's now 2025 and six years older, this rose looks pretty much the same -- stays around 4' x 4' or a bit larger, great foliage, and very sturdy.
