"I never like to dispute a breeder's given parentage, but I have some trouble working out where my friend the late Alex Cocker got the beautiful bronzy colour. The declared parentage is all pink. Be that as it may, Remember Me is a valuable parent for HTs. If I was still at "the game", I would still have it in my breeding house. It does have one nasty habit - it looks as though you have a good seed set, then half the hips drop off."
No doubt he was referring to the parentage: Ann Letts x (Dainty Maid x Pink Favorite)
Did Alex breed the rose, or Anne?

Glad the lineage was clarified with time. Sam was right!

I am not sure who actually dabbed the pollen. Alex died in 1977. 'Remember Me' carries a date of 1984.

This variety arose from the controlled pollination of 'Alexander' by 'Silver Jubilee' in 1979. "
So the pollination was made after he had passed away.

I have to agree with the remarks about the short time petals stay on the flowers, in particular since next to it I planted a Dublin Bay climber which seems to hold its flowers forever.
I don't agree though with zone 7b rating. I am in zone 6a and it does better here then roses rated at zone 5.

I waited a long time to purchase this rose....mostly because of rooom....I found it in Edmond's catalog...and fell in love with it....checked it out on hmf....and bought it last spring. As of the first summer's progress, it grew fast, but a bit leggy, and it bloomed alot, I wasn't dissappointed in that......but it doesn't seem to have a very long bloom time on the plant. Opens fast, and then drops the petals quickly. Is there anything I could feed this plant, that would help it keep the blooms on longer, or will time and age make it better, or is it just it's nature???? The fragrance it wonderful, the coloring just like it shows in the catalogs and websites........just blows by too fast!

You're right -- the flowers don't last particularly long. At least they clean off the bush nicely.

My neighbor planted Remember Me in her garden (at my recommendation) as a memorial rose for her dearly departed dog. It has proved a very satisfactory rose. The blooms are very nicely formed and very unusually colored. They often resemble a porcelain rose painted by someone with a vivid imagination and a palette of orange, ochre, cream and sandy tan. The flowers are not of large exhibition size, but they are of exhibition quality. They do not last particularly long, but do drop cleanly. Rebloom is quick. The plant is definitely taller than wide. What no one has mentioned here is how prickly Remember Me is. The canes are armed to the teeth with vicious thorns, and even the flowering stems are fiercely prickled.

I'd have to agree on the thorniness. I purchased this one a few weeks back at a local store, mostly defoliated so I could see all the sharp points. It's the first rose I've planted that has left thorns behind in my hand...
