A really solid rose! I recall gorgeous and healthy foliage and a very bright coral-pink bloom, lots of them, quick to repeat, starchy petal substance, rather low growth here in 6a/Columbus. This variety never made a splash which is too bad because it is a really good rose. By 1990 the "landscape rose" construct was already active and I think "classic" Floribundas and Hybrid Teas started to have a tough go of it with the public. Pleasure seems like a late 70's rose to me---color, habit, all of it. Think that had it been released about 10 years earlier, it would have been much more noted and much more successful. Had Pleasure been AARS 1983 and Sweet Surrender held until 1990 or later (when fragrance started to be valued again, when informal form was forgiven for "cottage' landscapes, etc.) then they both would have been more noted (although by no means am I saying Sweet S is as good a rose as Pleasure). Love the marketing and "fashion" angle of rose history.
