Origin:
Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1897).
Introduced in Germany by Peter Lambert in 1897 as 'Gruss an Teplitz'.
Introduced in Australia by George Austen and Co. in 1900 as 'Gruss an Teplitz'.
Class:
China / Bengale, Hybrid China.  
Bloom:
Scarlet.  Strong, spice fragrance.  33 petals.  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped, open bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Small, ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Tall, arching, bushy, climbing, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage.  

Height: 5' to 6'7" (150 to 200cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 10b.  Can be used for cut flower, garden or hedge.  Hardy.  vigorous.  a good subject for pegging.  Disease susceptibility: mildew resistant, rust resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
