In Australia if you order Marechal Niel now, D d'A is almost certainly what you'll get, if you get a climber. If you get a bush, it's probably "Fake Perle"..

I wonder if admin would consider a spelling variant that does not require typing the a-umlaut. For some of us this always requires a Google search and a rather unnatural finger-dance on the keyboard. Furthermore, once one has typed Auerstadt without the umlaut, type-ahead seems not to let you simply truncate the name to Auer and let the lovely Perl software do the heavy lifting - it just keeps typing the wrong thing.
For a lesser rose, I'd hesitate to make the request. But if this rose is anything like as pretty as its photos here and at Vintage Gardens suggest, it deserves to get out more.

There are four different ways to search for a rose in the HMF database, with three of them allowing you to search for a rose without having to spell out the whole name of the rose.
When you open the rose search feature, click on the red HELP button and each type of search is described in detail.

You'll find HMF's search facility does not require you use the non-US characters. Just search for the "englishized" spelling and it will work fine.

The difficulty I encountered must have arisen from something else, perhaps the apostrophe or the case of the d before it. Whatever the cause, I found I got it right rather quickly today - third or fourth try. This rose name proves to be a tricky one because there is no part of the name whose spelling I can type with complete certainty, except for Duc. And that produces quite a large number of results.

Yes, you can type part of the name and find the rose. Yesterday, before I pointed you to the various types of rose searches on HMF, I found your rose by typing "Auers" in the SEARCH field and then using the CONTAINS search. Your rose happened to be the first rose that came up in the search results.
BEST MATCHES does strip away the punctuation, but there is a lot of flexibility in the other searches and I like not having to type in the whole name of the rose, if it is a long one.

If I type "Contains" Auerstadt or Auerstaedt, HMF still finds the correct rose.
