Mr Distl found following notice in the "Rosenjahrbuch" from 1936 of the german rose association "VDR" ("Verein Deutscher Rosenfreunde"):

"Am 13. Juni d. J. [1936] beging Herr Ökonomierat Stämmler seinen 80. Geburtstag.

So, the rose is named according to this notice after Ferdinand Stämmler, * 13.06.1856. He was member of the german rose association "VDR" and director of the park administration of the german town Liegnitz.

According to this notice of 1936, Tantau bred this rose in the year 1930 and not 1933.
