Registration name: Nigrette (hybrid tea, Krause 1934)

Bred by Max Krause (Germany, 1934).
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1934 as 'Nigrette'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1935 as 'Nigrette'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Dark red.  Flowers blackish maroon or plum, varying with season and weather. Green wood.  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 2".  Medium, double (17-25 petals), open bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  

Bushy, dense.  

USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to rust .  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires good cultivation if it is to perform its best.
