Bred by Quinto Mansuino (Italy, before 1944).
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1954 as 'Red Flare'.
Class:
Climber, Large-Flowered Climber.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, red shading.  Flowers carmin overcast spetrum-red.  Strong, centifolia, old rose fragrance.  30 to 35 petals.  Average diameter 4.25".  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  Large, rounded buds.  
Habit:
Climbing.  Medium, glossy, dark green foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 7' to 10' (215 to 305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for garden or pillar.
