This beauty doesn't seem very happy in the heat. We are in the midst of several days of high 90s weather here in zone 10 in Pasadena. She is planted in a south facing bed that gets intermittent shade from nearby trees but mainly sun. Curious if other zone 10 gardeners also observe this?

Got this one as a test rose from J & P with the 2008 set of four. Never saw it open, as this rose balls VERY badly in California coastal foggy weather.

Hence the very 'apt' name Malibu - Chumash for "beach!" Since this thing tends to look like 'Dusty Miller' it is among the first to be expelled from Eden. I'll give it to a friend in the interior along with Margaret Chase Smith and Lily Pons. Am seriously considering removing Yves Piaget as well tho the wife loves it.

i purchased malibu as a potted plant 3 seasons ago, it has to survived a grubb attack and the floods of last year that killed out 8 other roses. It is doing well now, i has three basil breaks and it starting to spread out. I cant wait for this one to mature, the blooms are wonderful, big and long lasting on the bush and in the vase. I have noticed a slight to medium scent on mine. I have never noticed any blackspot on this bush, it is planted close to its neighbors Lady Bird Johnson and Memorial Day, and if they get blackspot malibu seems uneffected. This one is not slowed by summer heat and is winter hardy to zone 6 (PA) with just mulch protection.
