Left Sweet Chariot, right "Bernice Mitchell's". Although the flowers come out the same colour, the overall impression is that Sweet Chariot is a darker purple bush.

Prickly enough inside (although it doesn't show on the outside) to make me avoid cutting out dead wood; and prickly enough to be a safe haven for a blue wren's nest.
