'Tipsy Imperial Concubine' rose References
Book (2006) Page(s) 229. Tipsy Imperial Concubine HT (Tea) Good, reliable rebloom. Outstanding fragrance. Compact, bushy. Le Rougetel, Reint; 1990 ...Massive eggs of pink, scrolled and rolled petals, quite deliciously fragrant. We believe this may be an old western Hybrid Tea, come finally home again, and have moved it from the Tea roses where we had offered it as a foundling from China collected by Hazel Le Rougetel.
Book (2001) Page(s) 26. Nigel Pratt. Some Autumn Roses. The next rose I came upon in this very mixed garden was 'Tipsy Imperial Concubine', looking, for a change like the illustration in Hazel Le Rougetel's book. Hazel discovered this rose on her trip to China and brought back a cutting which she gave to Peter Beales. He introduced it to his list, and we were fortunate to be able to add it to one of our importations. But it is not an early summer rose. The flowers don't open and I had never admired it greatly. Now suddenly, here it was, just as sumptuous as it must originally have been. I took its picture, inner petals resembling finest tissue paper.
