'Königs Purpur-Rose' References
Book (2001) Page(s) 196, plate 43. Rosa Purpurea regalis In he Napoleonshöhe nursery catalogue 1811 is the additional epithet 'Königspurpurrose'. In the caalogue of Wrede in Brunswick 1814 there is a R. purpurea albicans with the colour description of the flower: "Purple with a whiteish edge and inwardly curved petals." The rose has the appearance of the gallica rose 'Président de Sèze'; however, the laer was first sold in 1836 by Mme Hébert. It is perfectly possible tha Mme Hébert took the older gallica 'Purpurea Regalis' or 'Albicans' into her nursery and put it on the market again under a new name.
